THE CHALLENGE

Look Both Ways

If you’ve ever donned a Virtual Reality hat before, then you know it’s a real trip. Oculus pioneered Virtual Reality at a time when 1992’s The Lawnmower Man was the tech’s closest aspirational guide. But even at inception, Oculus shared concern over VR “best practices.” From an intensity warning label on every experience, to an extensive Health & Safety department responsible for educating users on the very practices they pioneered, Oculus has always been concerned with creating compelling experiences that are both thrilling and safe. Next, they needed a clean, sophisticated look to get the narrative of their Health & Safety stories out there. A Virtual Reality PSA, if you will.

OUR APPROACH

Apply Personal Experience

As soon as a headset is lifted over a character’s eyes the world explodes into a colorful array of elsewhere. A distinct visual difference between the two realities helps build up the situational humor driving the narrative. Watching someone flail around a virtual universe and then cutting to them almost knocking over the family fish tank is both funny…and pretty accurate according to our last expedition. Wish there was a warning we could have watched.
